Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Terminal
A new, 8,000-square-foot terminal building and 50,000-square-foot, four-bay corporate hangar facility was constructed to enhance the airport’s aviation infrastructure.
CHALLENGE
The new terminal building is intended to supplement the existing, aging terminal and provide expanded charter services for the region, and the 50,000-square-foot hangar facility is designed to meet the increasing demand for local, non-commercial aircraft storage. A significant challenge in this project was the delay in securing funding. Despite completing geotechnical and environmental testing in 2019, the project could only break ground several years later once the necessary financial resources were in place.
SOLUTION
With geotechnical and environmental testing completed well ahead of funding allocation and approval, the team – including TTL – collaborated closely with the owner, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the architect, the general contractor, and other project stakeholders so that, once funding was secured, the project could proceed swiftly and efficiently.
